Chennaiyin FC has already begun planning for the coming transfer window and has made some moves in the transfer market. According to Field Vision India, the club has allegedly signed midfielder Maheson Singh after he parted ties with his previous club, Punjab FC.
In addition to Maheson’s arrival, the team is also anticipated to lose Jiteshwor Singh, a vital member of the team. Despite signing a one-year contract extension in the summer, the midfielder appears to be on his way out of the club, with a handful of teams interested in him, according to 90ndStoppage.
Jiteshwor’s Departure:
Jiteshwor Singh signed with the Marina Machans ahead of the 2022/23 ISL season. In his debut season under then-coach Thomas Brdaric, the midfielder made an enormous impact to the team. The midfielder was in and out of the starting lineup during the previous season, but he did demonstrate his abilities when given the chance.

Despite a few teams competing for his services last season, Chennaiyin FC activated the midfielder’s extension clause, keeping him at the club for another year. However, Jitheshwor’s game time has been restricted this season, with only one appearance.
The 23-year-old midfielder from Manipur will be looking to leave the team in order to gain more playing time, demonstrate his abilities, and show the supporters what he is capable of. With a few clubs looking for an Indian midfielder, it looks to be seen where Jiteshwor will end up next.
Maheson Singh’s Arrival:

Chennaiyin FC has moved quickly to sign Maheson Singh after he left Punjab FC. The 20-year-old midfielder is versatile and can play anywhere in the middle of the park. Despite enjoying plenty of playing time in the I-League, Maheson has found himself surplus to requirements at Punjab after their promotion, pushing him to make a move.
Maheson broke into the first team in the 2021/22 season and played an important part that season, featuring 18 times. Following the arrival of Staikos, his playing time decreased, but he was still a member of the side that was promoted to the ISL in the 2022/23 season.

Since then, Maheson has only played once for the senior team, against Bengaluru FC in the ISL. He was then part of a youth team that competed in the PL Next Gen Cup in the United Kingdom. Under Panagiotis, he has been completely dropped from the first team, with players such as Vinit Rai, Ricky Shabong, Nikhil Prabhu, and others taking his place.
According to reports, Chennaiyin FC is considering Maheson as a player who might contribute to their team in the second half of the season. With only four victories in 13 games, Owen Coyle would be hoping to alter the team’s dynamics and guarantee promotion to the playoffs.
