Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia attracts interest from multiple ISL Clubs!

Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia of Aizawl FC is a hot prospect heading into the summer transfer season, as the Indian striker has broken many I-League records. As ISL clubs try to bolster their rosters, we can exclusively confirm that 5-6 first-tier clubs are interested in signing the player.

The 24 year old striker has scored 25 goals in his 38 appearances for Aizawl FC, which is quite impressive for a young Indian striker. A source close to the player added, “Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia is drawing attention from 5-6 ISL teams, with the young talent favoring regular playing time over money. Clubs like Mohun Bagan, Mumbai City, Northeast United and Hyderabad are in the race to sign him.”

Aizawl FC striker Lalrinzuala after scoring a hattrick in the I-League

After beginning his career at Bengaluru FC, Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia, better known as Rinzuala, joined the Gokulam Kerala reserves team. After playing in Kerala for a few seasons, he moved to the local team, Chhinga Veng, before joining Delhi FC. Despite playing for these teams, Rinzuala’s big breakthrough came at Aizawl FC.

Rinzuala scored 15 goals in 20 games in his first season with the People’s club, including one hat-trick and four braces. With 15 goals, he surpassed Mohammed Rafi and Sunil Chhetri to set a new I-League record for the most goals scored by an Indian in a season. Rinzuala was given a good opportunity to represent the national team in May 2024 when Igor Stimac called him to the national team camp. However, Rinzuala was forced to withdraw because of injury concerns.

A second blow to Rinzuala’s career came when he was on the verge of joining the Mohun Bagan Super Giants but was injured and failed his medicals. Rinzuala, however, continued to work hard and maintain his excellent form this season despite everything. Despite Aizawl’s struggles in the relegation zone this season, Rinzuala has provided a light of optimism, scoring 10 goals, including a hattrick against his former side Delhi FC.

Lalrinzuala's move to Mohun Bagan was broken due to a failed medical.

With the player apparently preferring play time over large contracts, Northeast and Hyderabad could be perfect destinations for him to gain more minutes than he would at a side like Mumbai City or Mohun Bagan Super Giants. Where the player ends up at the conclusion of the summer transfer window is still up in the air.
