Kerala Blasters are starting their season tomorrow in the Bambolim Athletic Stadium with an evening fixture against Rajasthan United FC in the 2025-’26 edition of the Super Cup. The Men in Yellow are finally coming out of the blue, after a long dormancy brought forth by the uncertainty in the Indian Super League and Indian Football in general. Here’s a Match Preview from me on what to expect from the clash tomorrow evening:
Fresh Faces and Approaches

Both Kerala Blasters and Rajasthan United have gone on to have pretty noticeable overhauls, especially in the foreign contingent, within a span of more or less a month. Kerala Blasters have brought in 3, while Rajasthan United have brought in 5 new faces to the club, making the ever-so-anticipated battle of foreigners on the pitch carry an element of suspense within them.
New players also means new tactics and approaches on the pitch, something which can only be speculated on until tomorrow evening, when both sides meet for the first time in their respective timelines.
Expect the Unexpected?

Being the strongest team on paper, Kerala Blasters will be expected to get an easy win against Rajasthan, but this edition of the Super Cup has already shown that nobody should be underestimated. Out of the 3 I-League teams that have already played at least a match in this edition of Super Cup, only one has lost a game and the other two have pulled out a total of three draws with spectacular performances against ISL heavyweights like Northeast United, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, that too with all Indian lineups against these star-studded ISL teams with spectacular foreigners, including World Cuppers.
With all these in mind, it isn’t far-fetched to say ‘Expect the Unexpected’ and considering the Blasters’ not-so-great luck against I-League sides, some fans will be praying for the next game to not be an upset.
Will Rain become a Pain?

One of the most concerning factors going into this season’s Super Cup is Rain. It sounds funny, but it can be scary as well. The heavy rainfall adds an uncertain factor to the play here, slipperiness, both of the players and the ball itself, can lead to dangerous scenarios on the pitch, a fact evident to everyone who watched the current tournament till now. The unpredictability set out by the Rain makes the game a battle of luck along with wits.
Key Battles to Watch:
Koldo Obieta Alberdi vs Abdul Samed Ango: A Center-Forward vs A Center-Back – An eternal rivalry in football, a battle of strength, of both the body and the mind, and how Koldo Obieta and Abdul Samed Ango match up to each other’s strengths, will be an interesting battle to look out for…

Adrian Luna vs Abdul-Halik Hudu: The Desert Warriors’ new 25-year-old Ghanaian Defensive Midfielder, Abdul-Halik Hudu, is coming to India straight from the Jordanian Pro League, and his first on-field duty will be to try and lock down the Uruguayan powerhouse, Adrian Luna. The Blasters’ Skipper has only one appearance in Super Cup for the club till now, but he has been terrific in every other competition and will be looking to regain his form and open his Super Cup record tomorrow, something which Hudu will try to prevent for sure…
Robinson Blandon vs Juan Rodriguez: In the vice versa scenario of our first key battle, Juan will would like to make a memorable debut in Yellow and no other better way to do that than commanding this side to a clean sheet performance, but for that he’ll need to neutralize the threat posed by Robinson Blandon who’s assisted on the same by Pedro Astray. Juan’s performance provides a crucial overlook on how the Blasters could go forth, as Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Attack wins you games, Defense wins you Titles.”
Predicted Lineups:
Kerala Blasters: (4-2-3-1)
Sachin; Naocha, Bikash, Juan, Amey; Lagator, Danish; Tiago, Luna, Noah; Koldo;
Rajasthan United: (4-2-3-1)
Malla; Lalfelkima, Gill, Ango, Kynsai; Hudu, Khabra; William, Astray, Shimray; Robinson;
